How to best describe the hectic and captivating musical patchwork that is Fangst?
Consisting of young members of already legendary bands Death By Unga Bunga, Honningbarna and Hvitmalt Gjerde, as well as a jazz expat from Manhattan, they radiate a kind of destructive charm, heaps of nonchalance and a take no prisoners attitude. Have you gotten an idea of what this is yet? We’ll leave the rest to the band.
Why form Fangst?
– The world needs Fangst. We view it as a necessity – as a mandate from the King himself. There was no way around it, and now we just have to continue forward.
So what’s the plan?
– We want to move on up. We want to stay in hotels. We want to convey feelings through appealing music. We want to be a creative force, that spins out of control, but hits the bullseye every time.
Inspirations?
– Sviatoslav Richter playing Prokofievs 8th sonata, pulp fiction (in the original sense), Muhammad Ali, Stax Records, people who maximize their potential for the greater good, hot dogs, the stars over Golsfjellet (a mountain Norway) and other stuff that in any way confirms that our hearts are still beating.
Whether you’re in the market for gripping Norwegian lyrics, or very rockin’ rock – or even both – you’ll get your fill. Fangst’s sonic expression is a result of the different musical backgrounds of the band members. And the result is beautiful rock n roll in Norwegian – sporadically dangerous, occasionally cute.
