Hajk - Broken by a Kiss
Hajk have not appeared as a band at all in recent years, but each of the members have nonetheless been active both in the music industry and in other parts of cultural life. At the same time, the music has picked up pace on its own, and now roams freely in streaming services, commercials, TV shows and movies.
It is not yet clear what kind of plans Hajk have for the future, but there is no doubt that they’re back. The first taste is the single "Not Your Last", an irresistibly beautiful pop song with the usual Hajk sound and Sigrid Aase at the front who plays on every vocal chord she has. In other words: Very many. It's dream pop, it is melancholic indie, and it's drop dead beautiful. You could easily find a mix of Swedish Amason, the ever-present Frank Ocean and the multi-instrumentalist Ethan Gruska in the soundscape here.
The creation of "Not Your Last" has been a real team effort from the band, who are enterprising in their own ways. Guitarist Preben Sælid Andersen – who has established himself as a producer and songwriter in recent years – has recorded the songs, drummer Johan Nord – who is also a renowned illustrator – has created artwork, while vocalist Sigrid Aase and pianist Einar Næss Haugseth have been involved in the production together with the other two.
"Not Your Last" will be released on March 1st, and what could be better than an airy and lovely pop song for the last remnants of snow to disappear in the streets, the sun to warm the body and the sunglasses to finally be brought out? Hajk is back, and that is the first sign of spring.
In recent years, Hajk's music has been heard in Scandinavian productions such as Ninjababy, Made in Oslo, Udda Veckor, lovleg and American shows such as Good Trouble and Forget Normal – to name a few.
